Former Leeds United defender Aidy White has questioned whether Daniel Farke really considers Brenden Aaronson as a starter at the moment, reigniting debate over the American’s role at Elland Road.

Aaronson’s energetic style and press-first instincts made him a fan favorite upon his arrival in England, but questions have been raised about the 24-year-old as Farke continues to hone his team control and counter-pressing balance.

The player has been in poor form recently and has been criticized by fans for his performance.
Los Blancos lost 2-0 to Burnley at the weekend, leaving questions about the quality of their attack and finishing.

Farke’s team created many chances, but were unable to convert them.

White doubts whether the Leeds boss has confidence in Aaronson as the side, newly promoted to the Premier League, deal with injury problems.

Aidy White told BBC Radio Leeds:

“He doesn’t necessarily want to play Aaronson and Harrison.” White said.

Presenter Johnny Buchan replied: “I don’t know, but he protects Aaronson well and he has options to play with other guys.

“And he defended Aaronson.” White continued: “But is it because he feels Dan James is the first choice? Isn’t he injured and not at his best? It’s too much on his hands.” he added.

It remains to be seen whether Farke will start alongside Aaronson in Leeds United’s next game against West Ham United.

The Hammers are struggling at the moment and it’s the perfect time to play. Farke’s side have a chance to pick up three points against West Ham.

Farke has no choice at the moment but to show confidence in Aaronson, as he awaits updates on the fitness of his other attackers.
