Australia Playing XI vs India – 2nd ODI, India Tour of Australia 2025:

Opener: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head

The Kangaroos will be hoping to pick up back-to-back wins in the ongoing ODI series against India and take a firm lead in the three-match series when both teams go head-to-head in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval.

The captain and team management will have been impressed with the professional manner in which the Australian ran things in the opening match.

The home team will be hoping to repeat the same performance over a longer period of time in the next match.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head will start for Australia, both of whom are known as some of the best attacking players in cricket, and will be looking to do the same in their next match.

That being said, Travis Head was dismissed trying to play attackingly in the first ODI, so it will be interesting to see if he continues to play similarly in Adelaide.

Head’s opening partner and Australia captain Mitchell Marsh will be looking to continue his good work as he played a smart knock in the previous match after losing a few wickets early on as the team aimed for a below-average total.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Matthew Short, Josh Phillip (wk), Matthew Renshaw, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen.

The opening duo will be followed by a middle order that will have a new look following the retirement of several senior players.

Despite being relatively inexperienced, the middle order did a great job alongside the likes of Josh Philippe and Matt Renshaw to keep the defending ODI World Cup winners from collapsing.

In addition to Phillip and Renshaw, the team will also be hoping that Owen and Connolly will be available in midfield.

However, the responsibility for scoring most of the runs lies with the top five batters.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, Matthew Kuhneman, Josh Hazlewood.

The organizers will be happy with the bowling performance in the first ODI and will want more of the same performance from the bowlers in the second match of the three-match series.

As usual, Starc will have a new ball for Australia and will be partnered by Josh Hazlewood, but he has been in good form of late and will be hoping to carry that into the next game.

Starc and Hazlewood will play a key role for Australia as batsmen at number six or seven, supported by Nathan Ellis and fast-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Owen, bowling a few overs as required.

Speaking of the spin bowling department, Matthew Kuneman, who received high praise for his bowling at the end of the innings in the last match, will be in charge.
