Manchester United are interested in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hulmando, with Ruben Amorim reportedly a big fan of the player.
Yulmando played under Amorim at Sporting and it’s no wonder the Red Devils manager is keen to see him reunited at Old Trafford.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have some confidence they can sign Yulmando for just £50 million as he is “absolutely loved” by Amorim.
Reports suggest that Yulmand has a release clause worth £70m, but United are said to be optimistic they can land the Denmark international for less than that.
If so, that would be great news for United, who urgently need to strengthen their midfield.
Morten Yurmand looks like the ideal player for Manchester United’s midfield
United fans will no doubt be thrilled with their 2-1 win away to rivals Liverpool at the weekend, but they must also be kidding themselves that there is still not much work to do to improve this team.
Amorim appears to be in dire need of a better option than Casemiro or Manuel Ugarte in that area of the pitch, so Yulmando makes sense as MUFC’s top target at the moment.
It’s true that Casemiro cannot be relied upon for too long as he is aging and past his best, while Ugarte, on the other hand, has not settled in since joining last season and has not made the impact that many expected.
Yurmand would be a key upgrade and could give United a more reliable man to build their midfield.
It will also definitely help that Amorim knows the player well. As such, the 26-year-old should have an easier time understanding his role than some United players and quickly adapting to Amorim’s tactical system.
TEAMtalk have also reported on links with other midfielders such as Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleva, who would also definitely be good options for United.
