The Golden State Warriors started the season with a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Golden State Warriors had multiple players and looked like a good team.
The Warriors were led by the dynamic duo of Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, who combined for 54 points.
The Warriors also had important contributions, with Jonathan Kuminga scoring 17 points and Buddy Hield coming off the bench with 17 points.
Steve Kerr played with 11 players in the Warriors’ first regular season game.
Hield and Horford played the most minutes off the bench at 22 and 20 minutes, respectively.
Will Richard played 13 minutes and Gary Payton II played 12 minutes. However, Payton II had some bad possessions and Tim Bontemps had doubts about his role once the Warriors were fully healthy.
“He was a little rough in possession, with double dribbles and bad turnovers on back-to-back possessions.
“Gary Payton’s minutes are going to be remarkable.
“We don’t know how much of a rotation he’ll be when they’re fully healthy.”
The Warriors are lined up at the guard position and will be limited in playing spots once he is fully healthy.
Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton missed the team’s season opener.
Moody is out with a torn left soleus muscle, and Melton is still recovering from left ACL surgery. If both players return, they are expected to be part of the Warriors’ rotation.
The Warriors are also expected to bring in Seth Curry in the near future, so things don’t look promising for Payton II, especially if he doesn’t start the season well.
