Lightweights Abdulkareem Al Serwadi and Mateusz Camilo are no longer scheduled to meet at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The match was called off just two days before the event due to Al Serwadi being removed from the card at the last minute. Camilo has no plans to take on a new opponent.
Multiple sources familiar with the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Thursday, following initial reports from Eurosport.
After news of the match’s cancellation broke, Al Serwadi released a statement on Instagram confirming his withdrawal from the match, but made no mention of what exactly happened.
“It has been written and I am not going to doubt it,” al-Serwadi wrote. “All I know is that I was fully prepared, had the best camp of my career, made weight and was ready to go. It couldn’t have gone any better and Allah didn’t plan it for me.
“Inshallah, everything will be resolved soon. I don’t even know myself, so please don’t ask.”
Al Serwadi was looking for his first win in the UFC after suffering a loss in his debut fight. Dana White’s Contender Series. The same goes for Camilo, who lost his first fight with the UFC before being booked on Saturday.
Now, both will have to wait until a later date to compete again.
With Al Serwadi and Camilo removed from the card, UFC 321 will go ahead with a total of 13 fights, with prelims currently scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, followed by the main card at 2 p.m. ET.
