Dylan Harper made his NBA debut in a memorable game for teammate Victor Wembaneyama.
Victor Wembaneyama scored 40 points in the San Antonio Spurs’ season opener, crushing the Dallas Mavericks.
Wembaneyama dominated opponent Anthony Davis in a performance the Mavericks star has never seen before.
And this took some of the attention away from newcomer Dylan Harper’s stellar debut.
Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft, is an impressive complement to Victor Wembaneyama.
Harper played 23 minutes off the bench and contributed an astonishing 15 points.
He shot 7-14, including 1-2 from three, and also added four rebounds and two assists.
His father is former NBA champion Ron Harper, and he responded to the praise from fans for Dylan Harper’s performance.
He wrote to X: “It keeps us from getting too high or too low and allows us to keep working.”
The San Antonio Spurs next play against the New Orleans Pelicans, looking to improve to 2-0.
Dylan Harper’s NBA debut fell just short of Ron Harper, who entered the league with the Cleveland Cavaliers all the way back in 1986.
He scored 17 points in the opening game. “I was hoping he’d catch me,” he wrote, referring to Dylan’s performance in X.
Ron Harper scored 30 points in his sixth NBA game. If Dylan Harper could match him, it would be quite something.
