Victor Wembaneyama caught everyone’s attention in his epic season opener against the Dallas Mavericks.
In one of the most dominant performances in recent memory, Victor Wembaneyama had 40 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks.
This was not only a win for Spurs, but also a great performance for Wenbanyama.
The 21-year-old is already considered the best player in the NBA after his first game of the season.
Many people were in awe of Wenbanyama’s opening night performance.
Members of the media, former and current players could not believe what they were seeing.
Jayson Tatum, who is likely to miss next season with an Achilles injury, also looked incredulous. After the game, he texted Evan Turner.
“When I woke up, I was still excited about the game, but then Tatum texted me and said, ‘What is he doing?’
“I said, ‘I have no idea, it sounds like he’s taking it personal, that’s 1,000 percent.’
It’s just one game in the 82-game regular season, but Wembaneyama and the Spurs had a perfect opener.
Not only does Wembaneyama look like he’s ready to have an MVP-like season, but the Spurs also look like a team ready to make some noise.
The Spurs were able to beat the Mavericks despite being without De’Aaron Fox, which is a true testament to the fact that they have a lot of young talent.
With Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper and a host of other young players surrounding Wenbanyama this season, the Spurs could end their six-year playoff drought.
