The starting grid for the 2025 Malaysian MotoGP Sprint Race will be taken by Francesco Bagnaia, who fought through qualifying 1 and took pole position in Sepang for the third consecutive year.

Gresini’s Alex Marquez and VR46’s Franco Morbidelli occupied the all-Ducati front row. Alex will have his first chance to become runner-up at the World Championships in the sprint category, behind his absent brother Marc.

Yamaha’s qualifying ace Fabio Quartararo looked set to beat Bagnaia, but lost his advantage in the final sector of the final lap, leaving him at the front of the second row alongside KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer.

In the third row, the Hondas of Joan Mir and Johann Zarco are split by Fabio Di Giannantonio in the VR46.

Alex Rins, Jack Miller and KTM substitute Pol Espargaro completed the two qualifying rounds.

Augusto Fernandes completes the 23-rider field on the new Yamaha V4.

There are no grid penalties. The 10-lap sprint will start at 3pm local time.
