Shubman Gill’s Indian team is currently facing Mitchell Marsh’s Australia in the third and final ODI on Saturday, October 25, at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. During the match, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma equaled the 13-year-old super-record held by legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Before the Australia series, Rohit and Virat last played in Champions Trophy 2025. Their return to international cricket caught the attention of the cricket community. Rohit scored an impressive half-century in the second ODI, while Kohli recorded back-to-back ducks in Perth and Adelaide.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s performance for India in international cricket

Rohit Sharma made his debut for India in 2007 and Virat Kohli played his first international match a year later in 2008. Most notably, Rohit played in Kohli’s first ODI match. Over the years, the pair became pillars of Indian cricket and represented India in all three formats till 2024.

They have played 60 Tests, 225 ODIs and 106 T20Is together. Both legends retired from T20 internationals after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took a break from Test cricket ahead of the 2025 Anderson Tendulkar Trophy against England.

The milestone, which equals Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s records, was achieved between Kohli’s 305th ODI and Rohit’s 276th ODI. They have shown longevity in Indian cricket for almost two decades.

The partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid began in 1996, when Dravid made his debut for India and joined Tendulkar, who had already made his mark in the national team.
