Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to their first win of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Following their opening night loss, the Los Angeles Lakers dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves in their second meeting of the season.

The Lakers won 128-110, and it was none other than Luka Doncic who propelled the Purple and Gold to victory.

Doncic finished the night with 49 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, but missed out on a 50-point double-double.

Even though the Lakers had already won, head coach JJ Redick kept Doncic in the game and helped him score 50 points.

The 26-year-old superstar was fouled with 48 points but failed to make two free throws. Austin Reeves pointed that out in the comments below Doncic’s postgame Instagram post.

“Make the free throws,” Reeves wrote. Doncic responded by telling him to “shut up.”

Of course, this was a light-hearted banter between Doncic and Reaves, as the Lakers are currently 1-1 in the regular season.

Last season, the Lakers earned the third seed in the Western Conference. As a result, they will face the Timberwolves in the 2025 postseason opener.

Although many expected it to be an even series, the Lakers lost the series to the T-Wolves 4-1.

Going back this far, the Lakers have outscored the Timberwolves. Doncic shared his thoughts on losing in the 2025 NBA playoffs and defeating the Timberwolves this season.

“Honestly, it wasn’t. I always say last year was really tough for me. I just want to forget about that season and move on. I didn’t really think about the first-round series because it was Game 2.”

“We’re going to play them a couple more times, and it’s going to be a war every time we play,” Doncic said.

“Every time we play them it’s a war.”

Being among the top teams in the West, it’s no surprise that the Lakers vs. Timberwolves matchup is elite. It will be interesting to see which team will come out on top next time.
