Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AZ Alkmaar midfielder Keith Smit.
According to TBR, the 19-year-old playmaker has impressed with the Dutch side and two Premier League clubs are keen to secure his involvement. They have been successful in recruiting talented young players in recent seasons and Smit would be another investment for them in the future. He has all the tools to develop into a top-class playmaker with the right coaching.
The report claims that Smit is causing “excitement” among several clubs in Europe.
Premier League could be ideal for Keith Smit
Regular football in the Premier League will help him develop and fulfill his potential. Both Chelsea and Tottenham have been successful in developing young players and they could play a key role in his development. Smit will work with quality managers such as Enzo Maresca and Thomas Frank at two London clubs. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Both clubs have the resources to get a deal done. It will be interesting to see if they take over their interest and make a formal offer to close the deal.
The midfielder has been compared to Kevin De Bruyne due to his style of play. His vision, technical ability and ingenuity could be invaluable to Chelsea and Tottenham in the final third. Both clubs are competing in the UEFA Champions League and hope to compete for a big trophy soon. They need to continue to improve their squad and signing some of the best young talent in European football would be a step in the right direction.
Sumit will be a future asset
The 19-year-old has the potential to compete in the Premier League and the opportunity to join some of the country’s biggest clubs would be very attractive to him.
He will certainly be hoping that teams like Chelsea and Tottenham can secure an agreement with the Dutch side soon. He has the physical and technical attributes to adapt to English football and would make an immediate impact if this move were to materialize.
It would be reasonable to assume that any move may have to wait until the summer transfer window. AZ Alkmaar would not want to lose a key player like him midway through the season.
