The Los Angeles have finished in first place in the National League West every season since 2013, with the exception of 2021.

The finished behind the San Francisco Giants, 107-55, in the NLDS that season. The Giants won the series to five games, eventually losing to the .

The Giants used starting pitcher Kevin Gausman in two of the five games in that series, but lost both games. Gausman, now with the Toronto Blue Jays, wants to beat the on the biggest stage.

More news: ‘ Dave Roberts denies the idea that cuts led to Game 1 of the World Series failing.

When asked if he was happy to get another chance with the , Gausman said, “Yeah, for sure.” “But you feel the same way no matter who you play. You want to win. It doesn’t matter who’s on the other side. I still think about Wilmer Flores’ check swing. I don’t think it was a swing, but you know, it was kind of under the bridge. And Max was pitching in that game, so it’s kind of come full circle.”

“Now I get to know Max on a personal level and on a professional level. I mean, he’s had an incredible career. If you’ve ever spent time with him, I think he has a baseball mind. He’s nonstop. Nonstop. He’s always going back and forth, so there are definitely times when you have to step back from him. But no, I would feel the same way if I were playing someone else.”

Gausman had a solid year with the Blue Jays this postseason, posting a 2.00 ERA in four 18-inning appearances. He is scheduled to start Game 2 of the World Series against Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Toronto, and depending on the outcome of the 2021 season, there will definitely be a burden on his shoulders.

More news: ‘ pitching completely collapsed in Game 1 of the World Series, leading to a crushing defeat against the Blue Jays

The suffered a blowout loss in the World Series opener at Rogers Center, but will look to bounce back against the Blue Jays on Saturday at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
