Liverpool suffered another four-game losing streak in the Premier League before Brentford.
Arne Slott’s side are struggling to find form after an impressive start to the season.
Their last four league games have seen defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford.
The defending Premier League champions have fallen behind in the Premier League title race, with Arsenal currently sitting seven points above them in the league table.
A number of Liverpool players have been criticized for their performances and one player Gary Neville has criticized is summer signing Milos Kerkes.
Gary Neville wants Liverpool to let Milos Kerkes go
Kelkes joined the club from Bournemouth in the summer and immediately became the club’s starting XI, ahead of experienced left-back Andy Robertson.
However, the Hungarian defender looked unstable at the back and was unable to find consistency, which is now a major concern for Slot and the Reds.
Speaking on Gary Neville’s podcast, the football pundit said:
“At the beginning of the season it felt like their full-backs weren’t right and maybe Konate wasn’t right at times either, but with Van Dijk holding the team together and Alisson in goal, they’ve got two world-class performers there.
“But the virus is raging. It’s not just the left-back that we’re worried about now. The left-back, Kerkez, scored a goal and when I look at him I think he has to go.”
“I’m worried about the right-back. Frimpong is not a right-back. Conor Bradley is giving me headaches, and I think there’s a lot of talent, so I’m rooting for them, but it’s difficult when the team concedes goals and the pressure is on.”
Kerkes has not made an impact this season.
Although the season is still young, Kerkes looked completely out of sorts.
During his time at Bournemouth, he was known for his defensive quality and explosive running ability to support attacks, but this season the left-back has struggled defensively, and his lack of confidence has affected his attack as well.
It’s actually worrying for Merseyside clubs to see him play like this, given he understands the demands of the Premier League and has been in England for so long.
It remains to be seen whether Slott has failed to integrate with the left-back or Kerkes is struggling with the demands of playing for a top club, but his performances have been well below average and opponents are starting to expose that area of the pitch.
