Chelsea now raced to sign Angelkeeper Jahia Fofana at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, they are impressed by the 24-year-old’s performance and hope to sign Ivory Coast International in the coming weeks. Clubs like Newcastle United have scouted goalkeepers in recent months. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can get the deal done.
The Bruce is set to scout the goalkeeper later today when Angels plays Montpellier. Apparently, Chelsea legend Didier Drogana recommends the Blues sign the player.
It’s no secret that Chelsea need to introduce quality goalkeepers at the end of the season. Robert Sanchez is unconvinced by the Londoners, and he is likely to be replaced.
Yahia Fofana could make Chelsea moves flashy
Fofana will certainly try to join a big club like Chelsea, and that will be a big step in his career. The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract in the summer, and he could be used for a reasonable amount.
He is currently fighting for survival with Ange and will want to compete at a higher level in the near future. Chelsea was able to provide him with a platform to fight for the trophy and compete in Europe. It should not be difficult for a club like Chelsea to persuade a goalkeeper to join the club.
It is still unclear whether they can negotiate a reasonable deal with Anger.
Chelsea are currently seeking Champions League qualification and need a better quality player if they can finish in the top four. Signing a trusted keeper is their number one priority.
Sanchez made several costly errors this season, and Philip Jorgensen was inconsistent. Fofana could be an upgrade for both players.
