A question was raised about the value of Alex Marquez’s factory Ducati spot at MotoGP in Spain.
The coveted red bike will be signed by his younger brother, Mark Marquez, and Pecco Bagnaia until the end of next year.
But in Ducati, a year ago for the Gresini satellite project, which leads the 2025 MotoGP ranking after five rounds, is Alex.
Alex won the Grand Prix at Jerez last weekend after his brother’s crash.
This year marked Mark’s second time having endured a costly fall from the Grand Prix.
The consistency and reliability of his younger brother in the inferior machine was enough to collect the points he needed to surpass his rankings.
TNT Sports’ Suzi Perry then asked: “This paddock is brutal, so people start saying, maybe Alex should be on the full factory team with his brother Mark?”
Michael Labert replied: “Pecco is not happy yet. (Jelez’s test) was a big day for him.
“Alex has a good package like this. Pecco needs something that can fight.
“He could probably accept Mark as an eight-time champion and steal headlines. But for Alex to do that, it’s a big knife in Pecco’s career.”
Bagnaia was just 19th in the Jerez Test on Monday, but won “two things” that she hoped to lead the title challenge.
Bagnaia retested his teammate Marquez for use throughout the season. The Italians removed them from their bikes as they were unhappy with them during pre-season Thai tests.
Bagnaia didn’t name any important parts, but claimed it would bring ammunition to next week’s Le Mans round.
Alex Marquez’s “The Stars Are Aligned”
Alex Marquez is one point of his brother at the top of MotoGP, with 20 exempt from Bagnaia.
“Alex got out of Mark’s shadow this year. When they were teammates, Mark was stronger and Alex’s style didn’t click on the GP23,” analyzed Laverty.
“The stars matched this year. He has lead status with his team along with him.
“It was a great team around him, a family-owned environment that allowed him to thrive.
“He’s still very reserved in his expectations. He’s not yet aggressive enough with his brother. But with anyone else he’s very aggressive. He’s the devil of the brakes.
“It’s all come together for Alex’s career.”
Sylvain Guintoli noted that Alex was campaigning on machines older than his brothers Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
“But it’s a good Ducati, but it’s a great package,” Gintori said.
“He plays a boy from VR46 and Bagnaia at the factory Ducati.
“Alex has put together a great campaign, and as soon as he makes the switch he gets really fast on the GP24 and doesn’t look back.
“He’s brave, he takes risks and goes to the gap. The race he did was great, he went hard at the start. He had more pace than Bagnaia.”
