Anthony Gordon is linked to a move from Newcastle United, and there were rumors that he wanted to join Liverpool.
The 24-year-old England International is keen to move to Liverpool as a potential replacement for Lewis Diaz, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown. The Colombians are being sold to German Champions Bayern Munich, and Gordon could be a potential replacement.
“Liverpool will use that Diaz money to sign a replacement,” he told Football Insider.
“One of the names we spoke a lot is Anthony Gordon because he is their long-term target in that position and ideal.
“I think this plan was at the start of the window. If they sell Diaz, they can go to Gordon. He wants to be involved.”
Liverpool can use Gordon
He’s done very well in the Premier League with Everton and Newcastle. He registered 16 goal contributions last season, proving to be an excellent addition for Liverpool. Gordon is labelled “a great player.”
The sides require more depth and quality. They were very dependent on Diaz and Mohamed Salah of the wide area. Signing another winger is a wise decision. On top of that, players like Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez are expected to leave the club. Liverpool can use more depth in that area of the pitch.
Anthony Gordon fantasizes Liverpool’s moves
Gordon was a Liverpool fan as a boy, and he certainly would want to be a Premier League champion. This may be the ideal opportunity for him to test himself at a higher level. Newcastle won the domestic trophy last season and secured a Champions League qualifier. But they are not the level necessary to fight for a big trophy. The opportunity to join Liverpool will be difficult to refuse because of the attacker.
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle is willing to sanction his departure. Liverpool also maintains a tab for Alexander Isaac, and Newcastle has declared it does not want to sell key players.
