Kohli’s retirement from the test made almost everyone ask “why” as he still had at least three years left. However, reports from the Indian Express show that his desire to spend more time with his family is the reason behind his retirement.

The report allegedly told the same to Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and the strong managers who run Indian cricket in the first week of April. However, BCCI was not surprised by the decision that the England Series was round the corner, particularly and asked the batsmen to reconsider his decision, but he stuck to his stance.

In particular, Kohli reportedly was dissatisfied with the BCCI family’s Diktat, but the Governing Body was not in the mood to make any changes to it, so Kohli decided to leave Test cricket.

On May 7, Kohli once again contacted BCCI about the same thing and said he wanted to announce his retirement on social media. BCCI gave him another shot to make him reconsider his decision, but they failed again. The batsmen were encouraged to wait for several days due to tensions between India and Pakistan at the border.

However, as soon as a ceasefire was called between India and Pakistan, Kohli informed the BCCI boss and selector that he had made public his decision and announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday. He posted an emotional message on Instagram, making his fans realize how tough it is to take.

His retirement shocked many, but he called to spend more time with his family. In particular, Kohli is the father of two young children and has always mentioned the importance of spending time with her family.

Another section of Cricbuzz’s report found that Virat Kohli spoke to Ravi Shastri before making a decision. For those who rebelled, he shares a great relationship with Shastri as the duo has been a huge success as captain and coach.

The report added that Kohli would also tell ICC Chairman Jay Shah, but it is not clear whether the conversation took place. He was also scheduled to meet Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the BCCI, but the meeting could not occur due to tensions between India and Pakistan.
