Arsenal may have addressed worrying forwarding news today as real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is reportedly supporting the move towards Real Madrid.
The gunner had long been looking at his favourites to sign Spanish International, but he may have now changed his mind about his future.
Athletic reported this week that Real Madrid sources will see Zubimendi joining Arsenal this summer, but now there is another update.
According to trusted journalist Santi Ouna, posting on X’s official account, Zubimendi will rather move to the Bernabeu after the club personally explains his plans to him…
Zubimendi shines between in Laliga and it’s easy for him to succeed at various big clubs around Europe.
Arsenal certainly suits him, but he can also have an important role to play injecting a little quality into the ball this midfield of Madrid.
Does Real Madrid need Martin Zubimendi more than Arsenal?
After being knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal this week, Real may feel that Zubimendi has come in and they need to give something new in the middle.
Mikel Arteta’s side is already very strong in that division, with Declan Rice and Thomas Partey running the show on both legs in their Champions League quarterfinals.
In contrast, Carlo Ancelotti’s men seemed to lack something there. Zubimendi was probably ultimately ideal to give the Los Blancos a long-term alternative to Toni Crew.
Cruz retired at the end of last season, and Madrid no longer has anyone in his range from midfield.
Zubimendi was able to give it, but Arsenal also certainly hopes the 26-year-old as the ideal long-term alternative to veteran midfielder Gorguinho this summer.
