Wichita, Kansas – Belgian Adrienne Dumont de Chassart shot an 11-under 59 at the Wichita Open on Thursday in 14 sub-60 rounds in the history of the Corn Ferry Tour.
Dumont de Chassart had 12 birdies and bogies in the morning round at the storm-damaged Crestview Country Club, allowing players to lift, clean and place golf balls onto the fairway due to the wet conditions.
“To be honest, with all the rain and storms they got, I thought the course was in really good condition,” Dumont de Chassate said. “The Greens were lovely. You still got some bouncing off the green. It’s pretty impressive with all the rain they got. It was ideal, 80 degrees, and it was about to be 95 for the next two days.
The 25-year-old former Illinois player broke the 60 course record set by Justin Sue in the final round of 2022, and Alejandro Tosti was matched in the final round of 2023.
Cristobal del Solar set the Corn Ferry Tour record at the Astara Golf Championship last year with a 13-under 57. Frankie Capan III and Stephen Jeger shot 58 on the tour.
Dumont de Chassart began playing on No. 10, birding the first three holes. He birded No. 14, bogeyed the 15th and birdies 16 and 17 to 5 under. On the front nine, he birded the first five holes and hit a six-iron close on the eighth of the final birdie.
“We played really well in the stretch,” Dumont des Chassart said. “I missed shopping at the 7, but that’s the cool thing about golf, and I feel nervous even with the 4 footer.
Dumont de Chassart took a four-stroke lead over five players. Last year in Wichita, he lost to Ricky Castillo in the three-man playoffs.
