Sergio Garcia played most of his final round at Sunday’s Open Championship, without a driver, after slamming it into the ground in frustration and splitting it in half.
The 45-year-old veteran defeated the club after shooting a tee shot on the second hole at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Players are unable to exchange clubs that are broken with rage during the round.
Despite being poor on the tee shot, Garcia ended up making a birdie with one of the five birdies of the day, par 5 No. 2. With two bogeys, he shot 68.
The Spaniards finished their opening at 3 under 281.
