Kade Cunningham opens up about the mood in the Detroit Pistons locker room after adding two consecutive losses.
Last season, the Detroit Pistons were one of the worst teams in the league as they finished their campaign with an NBA-Worst 14-68 record.
In light of that terrifying season, the Pistons hired JB Bickerstaff as the team’s new head coach. Bickerstaff turned things around completely for the team and unlocked Cade Cunningham’s true potential.
As a result, Piston is already playoff bound as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. No team likes to enter the postseason with a losing streak, but Piston is on the brink of that crisis.
Certainly, Piston clinched the playoff berth, but appears to have stepped out of the gas during the final stretch of the season.
After all, the Pistons were 1-4 in their final five games as they now owe a two-game straight, following a 127-117 defeat at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
The Piston remains above the .500 mark with a 43-36 record, but their recent defeat vs. Kings have been linked to fans.
The main reason behind it is that Detroit had an 18-point lead at some point in the game. However, they allowed the Kings to erase that deficit and register a 10-point victory during this important stretch of the season.
You might think that this loss has notched the Pistons’ confidence a few times before the playoffs.
However, Cade Cunningham, the most improved player of the year’s award favorite, denied this in a post-match interview.
“We’re in the same place. We’re confident. We’re hungry and look forward to making all the games better,” Cunningham said.
He added: “The last two games are losses and obviously not what we wanted, but there are things we can take from both.”
