Arsenal continues to put pressure on Liverpool with a 2-1 victory over Fulham early tonight as they refused to give up their title charge.
Entering the game they were 12 points behind the Reds against the very good side managed by Tottenham’s target Marco Silva.
Buyo and score return and full ham
They got off to an optimal start to the game and took the lead in the 37th minute through makeshift attacker Mikel Merino.
In the second half, Saka came out of the bench and quickly affected him as he returned from a long-term injury.
The attacker, who the gunner had missed so heartily, came in the 66th minute and appeared on the target seven minutes later.
Merino was once again involved when Saka sent a flicked cross towards Martinelli’s back post, arriving from close range.
Saka’s goal was the winner of the match as he achieved his comforting goal through Muniz in the 94th minute.
Former Brighton striker Glenn Murray has commented on BBC Radio 5, praising Saka’s return to the impactful side and calling him a “difference maker.” He said the player returned timely from the injury when his team needed him the most.
He said (via BBC Live):
“Bukayo Saka is a different maker. He knows where he is and what to do. This time he arrives at the back post and fine-tunes the ball into an empty net.
Arsenal continues to put pressure on Liverpool
The victory closes the gap between Liverpool and Arsenal to just nine, with the Reds set to play the tricky Everton side tomorrow.
They had already sacrificed two points for the Reds a few weeks ago, and it ended up being a chaotic scene in the controversial final Merseyside derby.
Liverpool was not even the best of these days. Performance levels dropped significantly, with the Reds earning one of the worst performances of the season against Newcastle in the final league cup defeat.
Recent performances and forms worry fans as the Reds prepare a tough set of equipment in the league’s final stretch.
