Have you ever seen a season end like this? For Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side, it was more stressful than they’d ever wanted.

After being sent from the Champions League by PSG, they lamented a terrible result in the Premier League, putting their hopes of playing in a place at the top table in Europe next season.

Aside from a 4-0 victory at Ipswichtown, the Gunners have not scored all three points on the top flight since beating Fulham from the first day of April.

So, Sunday’s 1-0 victory at top-four rival Newcastle United was pretty timely. Arteta’s team has yet to sew to second place, but they have confirmed they will be participating in the Champions League next season.

Behind them is an almighty battle that has been shaped to finish in the top five. Thankfully, Arsenal will be able to visit Southampton next weekend.

So who stood out on the new red home strip on Sunday?

How Arsenal beat Newcastle United with the Emirates

When William Saliba’s nemesis, Alexander Isaac, was unable to name Newcastle’s team sheet due to injury, Arsenal knew they were on an easier ride.

Football Fancast’s Chalkboard series presents tactical discussions centered around global games.

However, during the first half they had their goalkeeper to thank them for keeping them in the game.

This certainly wasn’t an easy victory, especially for those behind who made tireless efforts to preserve the club’s clean sheets.

Raya’s pass was pretty incorrect within the opening half, but he made up for it with a series of great saves.

After the match, handed over the Match of the Match Awards by Sky Sports, Raya certainly proved why he is one of the Division’s best stoppers.

That being said, it was not Raya the most definitive. It was Declan Rice, who put in an effort from outside the box to give Arsenal a victory.

It was a peach in the finish line from a man who only went from strength to strength in the final third. He replaces Granit Xhaka, whom all of the Emirates wanted them to find.

Raya and Rice are certainly the best players in the Arsenal Red and will play a key role in rebuilding next season. That said, some people are unable to see the stadium again as home players.

Players who appeared in their final home game for Arsenal

The noisy reception that Kieran Tierney was given as an alternative to the second half was full of joy. Scott spent his time in North London injured, which sadly was the last time we could see him at home as an Arsenal player.

The left-back contract expired at the end of the campaign, and it is widely expected that he will return to Celtic, where he sold him for £25 million.

It was also probably Jorginho who played their last home game. Another Arsenal’s uncontracted star looks like he’s going out to finish his playing day in Brazil.

Thomas Party’s fellow Giorguinho midfielder will also be lucky to be back in the Emirates next season.

The £45 million signature from Atletico Madrid spent his days in the famous red and white, but Arsenal needed fresh blood, which certainly was evident against Newcastle.

Part day certainly wasn’t miserable, but despite this it was a tinsel display, but Standard gave him a 5/10 match rating, writing that he was “one of Arsenal’s slowest players and owned several times.” Meanwhile, one content creator and podcaster Le Grove even suggested that the midfielder appears to be “already on the beach.”

His numbers certainly weren’t the best either.

The 31-year-old is usually a duel monster, but his lack of pace and athleticism during the game’s transitional phase is becoming a concern.

He quickly removes the ball from the feat, but he lacks the drive to advance and does not have the speed needed to track down if Arsenal finishes in the press. He is the polar opposite of Rice in that respect.

As a result, it will expire in a few months, so it’s time to cut ties with players that are certainly not going to get better due to Partey’s contract.

There’s a reason why the club plans to sign Martin Zubimendi this summer. Let’s make him Rice’s partner next season. Please Mikel.
