Kyle Ryde admits he is “lucky” after being given a second chance at the 2025 British Superbike Championship.
The unexpected collapse of OMG Racing, where Ryde won the 2024 BSB title, left the reality champion without a bike a few weeks before the new season.
However, the involvement of the nitrite competition allowed the OMG race to return to the paddock, allowing Ryde to compete.
The season begins this weekend at Alton Park.
Ryde said: “I think the test was good. Donington Park was really good, but that seems to me always do well, my bike is, and it’s my favorite track.
“Donington was a positive test and I felt like if I left right away I had a chance to get the trophy.
“Alton Park was a little more difficult and the opposite of Donington. We got used to the truck again and went to bed on a new set of four discs, which took time, but it was really ideal.
“On the second day, I got a little faster. I need to find a little more speed at one lap pace, but I’m just comparing myself to Bradley who did 32.9 and don’t increase that speed in the race.
“I feel really good with used tires and it’s a wise pace for racing, and that’s a qualifying part that we need to work on a bit.
“But when I won the championship before the Donington Test since last October, I was not on a bike. I’m very fortunate and very fortunate to be in this position.
“Obviously I need to thank Allan, Paul and the nitrogen competition team. I can’t defend the 2024 British Championship without them. I can’t wait to see the number one again this weekend when I get there.
“I want to enjoy the number one plate. I will do my best to help my team, friends, family and everyone who supports me until the end of 2026.”
