Leeds United appears to be on the verge of ensuring a major offensive strengthening as they continue to prepare for their lives in the Premier League.
According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport (via Football365), the club reportedly reached a deal worth around £19.6 million with striker Nikola Krstovic’s Serie A Side Lecce.
Krstovic enjoyed a solid campaign with Lecce last season, showing the physical presence and work rate he needed from Premier League strikers.
Leeds sees him as a valuable addition to their team as he aims to ensure top flight stability in the upcoming seasons.
Leeds United agrees with Lecce
The transfer has not yet been completed despite the two clubs agreeing to the transfer fee, as personal terms between Leeds and the player have not yet been finalized.
The main challenge now lies in persuading Krustovitch to embrace the move towards England. The striker is reportedly eager to stay in Italy.
However, Leeds is working hard to change their minds by preparing what is called a “good wage package” and talking directly with player representatives.
The club hopes that the appeal of Premier League football, along with an attractive financial offering, is sufficient to convince Krustovitch to commit to his future at Elland Road.
Krstovic has not yet decided on his future
If players are convinced that they will be involved, he could play a key role in the club’s offensive setup next season.
Daniel Fark is looking to add even more depth to his team this summer, and despite Joel Pillow’s decent performance last season, the attackers were under-stated and efficient in front of their targets.
Krstovic is a player who brings more than just a goal. The way he holds the ball and plays others is worth it for Leeds.
Leeds, competing with Liverpool and Man United, is for a versatile 15-g/A attacker
