According to Athletic, Manchester City is on the verge of securing the signature of Sver Nipan, a highly rated club from Norwegian club Rosenborg.
Long considered one of Scandinavia’s brightest talents, the 18-year-old offensive midfielder is approaching finalizing a move to Etihad, where personal terms are now agreed.
Nypan is led in Norway with a series of impressive performances for Rosenborg’s first team.
Man City continues their spending this summer
The teenager made his senior debut at just 16 years old and later became the usual fixture of the start XI.
Known for his intellectual movements, clear passing and technical acuity, Nypan compares his ability to direct play from midfield at such a young age with players like Martin Odegaard and Luka Modric.
Man City was not part of the club’s first group to pursue NYPAN during the January transfer period, but is now acting resolute and is believed to be in high-level consultations with Rosenborg to finalize the transfer.
The city’s plans aren’t to lead NYPAN to the first team anytime soon. Instead, the contract structure is expected to include loans during the season back to Rosenborg or another club in Europe to get more first-team experiences in a competitive environment.
The transaction now rests on the finalization of personal terms between the player and his representative.
Guardiola wants to get the best young talent in Europe
Once completed, NYPAN will join the ranks of promising young players who have invested in their long-term vision.
The Pep Guardiola team has been able to sign the top young talent in the recent transfer window with Claudio Echeverri, Savio, Kayky and others at Etihad Stadium.
If everything goes to plan, the Norwegian starlet could be the latest polished gem in Manchester before being unleashed on Premier League stages in the near future.
In midfield position, the Premier League giants are also looking to sign Atalanta midfielder Edason this summer.
