Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) Selector, was opened up about criticism over pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management plan.
Ajit Agarkar said Jasprit Bumrah is a valuable asset to Team India and that he is very unique and requires “special attention” as he has suffered some serious injuries in his career.
Jasprit Bumrah appears in India’s Asian Cup 2025 team
Bumrah has been selected for the Indian team from 15 members of the upcoming Asian Cup 2025. It’s clear that Bamra, who is included in the Indian team, is a big development as there have been some reports that he missed the continental tournament.

It was reported that Jasprit Bumrah might skip Asia Cup 2025 and keep it fresh for his home test series against the West Indies.
World No. 1 Quick was last seen in action at Anderson Tendulcal Trophy 2025. There, he appeared in three of his five Test matches against England, appearing to be threatening with the ball.
In particular, he only played three games on the Tour to manage his workload, which made him on the receiver of heavy rebound from former cricketers.
We want him to be available at any time – Ajit Agarkal
Speaking to the reporter, Ajit Agarkal said they are paying particular attention to Bamrah and that physics is always in touch with him.
“I don’t think there’s a written plan at this time. Obviously there was a great break after the England series. The team managers, Physios and people are always in touch. Not only now, but even before his injuries, I tried to take care of him because I know how valuable he is.
Ajit Agarkar further said he hopes that Pace’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will be saved for the big game. He claimed:
“Obviously, we want him to be available for all the big games. I know that in international cricket, every game is a big game. But there’s the World Cup, there’s the Championship Trophy and the big series like England and Australia. We want him to be available at all times.”
Whether it’s this series, the next six months, or Ajit Agarkar
The BCCI Chief Selector also revealed that the workload management strategy involving Jasprit Bumrah remains unchanged because he is a very special player.
“Most high-speed bowlers are being monitored. Yes, he has been injured over the past two or three years. It’s been particularly careful about how unique he is, how special he is and how not to change. It’s not the next six months, whether this is this series,” Agarkar added.
Ultimately, Agarkar states that Bumra will be monitored by physics and trainers, and his participation in future matches will depend on his physical condition and when the team desperately needs them.
“As we go on, I hope he is probably the most important thing about how he feels and, along with Physios and trainers, to monitor them that they are being monitored,” he added.
