Al Ahly sports director broadcast by Goal.com Manager Rui Pedro Blas has ruled out the club parting ways with Ivan Toni during the upcoming winter transfer window.
“Ivan Toni is a top player and a top striker,” he said. “Rumors about a possible departure in January are not based on fact. They are not true. We are counting on him. It makes no sense to bring this up in November.”
Toney has been linked with a number of clubs recently, most notably Tottenham Hotspur, with former Brentford coach Thomas Frank currently battling a lack of attacking options. Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo-Muani are sidelined with ankle and jaw problems respectively.
Spurs believe Toney is the best person to replace him, but there are concerns about his ability to meet his wage demands. Between his income in Saudi Arabia and the UK tax on it, he would have to pay nearly £900,000 a week.
However, the 29-year-old is unlikely to return to England just yet.
