Manchester United’s season was full of challenges, prompting former England striker Alan Shearer to highlight the need for major changes at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils lost 4-1 to Newcastle United on Sunday, and it was another game where Reuben Amorim and his team proved miles behind the other top Premier League sides.
Amorim’s team was completely abolished by Eddie Howe’s side and the scoreline and defeat method.
Shearer defends his perseverance with manager Reuben Amorim, suggesting that the club needs “two or three transfer windows” to effectively rebuild.
The former Premier League attacker told Man United to sign a new striker, a new goalkeeper and a new midfielder.
Shearer said the rest is a soccer podcast:
“For them to move forward from a recruitment perspective, everything depends on winning the Europa League and returning to the Champions League.
“I know Reuben Amorim has a big job with him. It takes a lot of time and a lot of money to fix that football club. They need to stick with him. They have made a decision.
“He needs two or three transfer windows because they desperately need center forwards. They desperately need goalkeepers. They desperately need some legs in the middle.
“It’s a huge job, so you have to stick with him. But he asks players to do what they can’t, they’re really struggling.”
Man United needs more quality in every position
There is no doubt about the fact that there is a need for a new player at Old Trafford who can bring quality to the team.
They are currently losing the team’s world class players. He is a player who can be combined with Bruno Fernandez to help with the sides.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee scored a total of six Premier League goals throughout the season while goalkeeper Andre Onana continued to struggle with the club.
These are positions that require immediate attention from the club, along with midfield, where players like Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have passed their peak.
United are targeting the moves of Ipswichtown attacker Liam Dellup in the summer, while Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers is another player on the radar.
Man United is keen to the 22-year-old who previously turned them down
