Alex Marquez: "I saw the race alone, I was crying again!" After Jerez Motogpu won

Alex Marquez admitted that he was shed tears again while watching a replay of his debut MotoGP victory at Jerez.

Marquez secured his first Premier class victory in Spain last time, moving the Gresini Ducati rider to the top of the championship rankings.

“Yeah, I watched the race on my own!” Alex said Thursday in Le Mans. “Even so, the emotions are there and when I see myself crying, I’m crying again on the couch, so it’s better to watch alone.”

Despite the intense emotions, Marquez claims that nothing fundamentally changed in his way of thinking and preparation after he ultimately became the winner of the MotoGP race.

“I’m not different. I mean, life is the same,” he said. “You need to go bikes, you need to go to the gym, so everything is the same, and victory can’t change you.

“The mentality and approach to this weekend should be the same, so we try to give you 100% like we did in Jerez from the first moment.

“We’re leading the (championship) and in the end we only have six races. So we’re enjoying it a lot, but we have to continue.”

The best way to continue is for Alex to build on Ducati’s five-year winning streak at Le Mans on Sunday.

“I hope this will be my sixth victory with another rider!

Alex also acknowledged the performance advantage held by his brother Mark.

“As I said, Mark is still half a step in front of us. He made two mistakes, which is part of the race, but when it comes to pure performance, he’s better than us.

When asked about Alex Marquez’s potential as a real MotoGP title candidate, KTM’s Maverick Vinales sat down and answered.

“From my point of view, it depends on how much he believes he can do it.”
