Alex Pereira has no interest in fighting Khamzat Chimaev.
As soon as the light heavyweight title was once again wrapped around Pereira’s waist at UFC 320, “The Bolts” took to social media, shouting out the Brazilian bruiser and calling for a clash between the two world champions.
Unfortunately for Chimaev, Pereira has bigger fish to fry.
“Congratulations, but I want a super fight,” Pereira said when asked about Chimev’s message in a post-war interview. “Like I said, I want to fight at heavyweight. So congratulations.”
Chimaev then responded to Pereira’s dismissal, suggesting that if “Poitan” wanted a fight at heavyweight, he would be willing to give it to him. But perhaps Pereira only has one heavyweight on his mind and that is Tom Aspinall.
Aspinall was crowned the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion earlier this year after Jon Jones retired from the sport. Aspinall is currently scheduled to put the crown on Oct. 25 at UFC 321 against perennial contender Cyryl Gane.
The winner could find himself in line with Pereira, who is trying to become the UFC’s first three-division champion.
“What is it? One minute, 20 (seconds), something like that? Pereira absolutely ran through him,” Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. “Look, I was wrong. I was wrong. It’s very, very, very impressive. Who’s next for Pereira?
