The heavyweight semi-final scrap between Alexander Romanov and Valentin Moldenkie was a crashed halt after Romanov received a brutal low hit late in the first round.
Romanov had a dominant performance in most of the opening stanzas, making his opponent muscular to the mat with a belly-to-belly suppression, gaining considerable control time on the mat. When Moldavsky stood up, the two joked because of their position against the fence.
It only took another 30 seconds, and Romanov landed his knee on the clinch. As Moldavsky tried to respond with his own knee, he slammed the “King Kong” square with protective gear, causing Romanov to suffer utterly and crash into the canvas.
The five-minute Romanov lay on the mat, unable to straighten his legs and get up, of course, the doctor at Cageside gave him a Go-Ard to cancel the contest.
Official Results:Alexandr Romanov vs. Valentin Moldavsky ruled a no-contest due to an accidental, illegal blow at 4:26 in Round 1.
Since this was a tournament match, the judges were tasked with obtaining battles up to low batting. They unanimously advanced Romanov to the heavyweight final. He will now face Oleg Popov at the PFL World Championships in August.
