MUNICHEN – American Ben Shelton defeated Luciano Dadeli to reach the second Clay Court semi-final, while top-seeded Alexander Zverev defeated Taron Glickspool at the BMW Open on Friday.
Shelton, who won the Houston title with Clay a year ago, reached Dardelli’s 12th in a 6-4, 6-3 victory in Bayern’s chilly temperatures.
Second seed, Shelton, will then face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundo and compete in the final. Fifth seed Cerundolo moved to the final four by beating David Goffin 6-2, 6-4.
Before the tournament, Shelton attended his first professional soccer game last Saturday when he painted with rival Borussia Dortmund 2-2 and rival Borussia Dortmund.
When he reached his ninth tour-level semi-final, Shelton finished Dardari’s career-high winning streak in seven matches, including the Marrakech title.
Third place Zverev will take on Fabian Marozsan, who defeated Griekspoor 6-7 (6), 7-6 (3), and 6-4, then defeated Zizou Bergs 6-3, 7-6 (4).
