Alexander Zverev was plagued by spectators during Munich’s open quarter final on Friday, with the top seed asking the judge to drain individuals who hinted at allegations of domestic abuse against the Germans.

Zverev, who played Tallon Griekspoor, said the supporters said, “Let’s go… Wife Beater!”

Zverev did not respond at first, composing himself while several other audience members jealous of Heckler.

Zverev won the game, but during the switch he spoke with the chairman of Judge Fergus Murphy.

“Fergus, please kick him out,” Zverev said.

It was unclear whether the fans were kicked out. Reuters contacted the tournament organizers for comment.

Zverev was heckled before giving a speech as runner-up at the Australian Open in January.

Last June, Zverev’s lawyers said they agreed to a settlement after accusing the child’s mother, Brenda Patea of physical abuse and a German court of closing the case.

Zverev repeatedly denied the allegations.

He defeated Glickspool 6-7 (6), 7-6 (3), 6-4 in a three-hour match, regaining a loss to the Dutchman in the Indian Wells last month.

“I don’t mind if it’s on a roller coaster, I won,” Zverev said.

“The crowd took me to victory. I was already mentally exhausted, but they cheered me on at the critical stage.”

Zverev will face Hungarian Fabian Malossan in the semi-finals.
