Alfie Davis secured a spot in the lightweight final of the PFL World Tournament, beating former Beliter champion Brent Primus on Friday night.
After struggling to bring Davis to the canvas early on, Primus pulls the guard and tries to control Davis’ posture with a rubber guard. When Davis began fighting his own path, Primus began fishing for Gogoplata.
Davis defended, but gave up on his position, and Primus gained top control and rained down several ground strikes, opening his opponents in the process.
Davis is far better in the second round, dodging all attempts at a takedown of Primus and irritating the former Bellator lightweight title holder with a blow from long range. Within a minute, Davis landed a nasty spinning elbow with Primus on his wobbling legs. A smell of blood in the water led Davis to speed up, but Primus survived the onslaught and returned to his stool.
Davis opened his third landing with a check hook that caught a Primus square in his chin, causing him to instantly stolen his knee. Primus began to show despair in his takedown attempts and finally took a break when Davis threw a wise spinning elbow. That gave Primus enough time to move and bring Davis back to the mat.
Davis managed to scramble his path, but Primus quickly pulled the guard. To stay on top, Davis landed a handful of solid ground and pounds before the final bell.
