The young big man of the Houston Rockets, Alperen Sengun, ran an impressive eurobasket alongside Türkiye.
Sengun posted some big numbers on his way to the Eurobasket Finals when he defeated Kristaps Porzingis, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Turkey had its first final in the competition since 2001, but unfortunately they were short of Germany.
Despite the short term, Sengun showed why he could spend a big year with the Rockets this season.
Everyone is fascinated by Kevin Durant, the Rockets’ latest addition, but it might be Sengan who steals the spotlight.
Sengun is away from his first All-Star appearance, and he could be lined up for an even bigger season.
ESPN’s Tim McMahon believes Sengun could become the top 15 player this season.
“I think this can help him.
“He was the first All-Star last season, because someone from the Rockets had to do it.
“They have too many wins. His swagger never mattered, but he has it more than ever.
“There was pretty troubling in some of these finishes in Europe.”
A statement was made by Senton when Turkey upset Serbia, when he ruled Nikola Djokic in the Eurobasket.
Sengun showed off the potential superstar he has, with 28 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in the victory.
The 23-year-old averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season. With Durant in the mix, it should open up more of his attacks.
If the Rockets make a deep playoff run, they need Sengan to jump.
