Oscar Piastri made a silly swipe with Alpine on Team Radio during the Austrian Grand Prix.
The Australian remained frustrated by the actions of both Alpine drivers at the end of Sunday’s race at the Red Bull Ring, which finished second to McLaren teammate Rand Norris.
As he tried to chase Norris, Piastri was forced onto the grass by Franco Colapinto while lapsing the Alpine Driver. Piastri also lost time behind Pierre Guthrie. Pierre Guthrie blocked the championship leader on turn 1 two laps after a near miss with Corapinto.
Almost three years ago, Piastri left Alpine in a tug-of-war with the famous social media spat and subsequent contracts.
In an obvious reference to his previous fallout with Alpine, annoyed Piastri said on Team Radio:
The radio message was featured on his onboard and quickly shared on social media, rather than being broadcast during the Grand Prix live television coverage.
Korapinto emphasized that Piastri was in his “blind spot” when he fought Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda, but his defense didn’t stop Argentina from scoring a five-second penalty and incident penalty points.
What happened between Piastri and Alpine?
Following Fernando Alonso’s shocking decision to join Aston Martin for the 2023 season, Alpine announced on social media that its driver Piastri will become a replacement for the two-time world champion.
With an astonishing twist, Piastri denied that he had signed a competitive deal with Alpine and instead agreed to a deal to join McLaren.
Alpine disputed this on the contract approval committee, but they lost.
Piastri won the Constructors Championship with McLaren in 2024, but he found himself at the top of the driver’s rankings.
The advantage of Piastry over Norris reaches 15 points after 11 rounds of the 2025 F1 season.
