In 2018, then-Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho chose midfielder Nemanja Matic following his FA Cup quarter-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.
It is not wrong for the new boss, Reuben Amorim to repeat such a statement regarding his talisman captain, Bruno Fernandez.
Amad Diallo has been absent since early February, and has mostly fallen in Fernandez to make things happen on his side.
The Portuguese playmaker, praised by Mutv Pundit Phil Bardsley as “the best player on the pitch by country mile”, is trying to lead the wreck to a brighter destination.

As Tottenham Hotspur was silently explained by Pep Guardiola in 2017, when there was the “Harry Kane Team” – United are at risk of becoming the “Bruno Fernandez Team.”
Search for the latest Man UTD forwards
With the 12 Premier League matches this season, Amorim and Co’s priorities this summer could be keen to raid his former side, the CP, to revive his current ranks.
The Portuguese coach has already missed Chelsea-bound teenager Geovanny Quenda, but there have been reports that sports goal machine reunion, Victor Gyoker, will take place this summer.
This is an opinion reflected in a recent report by Givemesport, which states that the “most likely famous” that arrives from a Lisbon costume is actually Francisco Trincao, not Gyoker.
Transfer focus
Mega Money deals, controversial moves, famous flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinions across Football FanCust.
Certainly, the former Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger has been attracting attention as the “major” alternative to current Morinaud star Mateus Cunha as Amorim searches for a new forward.
The 25-year-old, who reported a £67 million release clause in his existing contract, is said to be stiff on “Amorim tourism” before the windows begin.
Why Man UTD is targeting the next Bruno Fernandez
There’s very little need to repeat what Fernandez has achieved with United Shirts so far. The experienced midfielder will boot with 95 goals and 83 assists in 83 matches in all previous competitions, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
The playmaking genius, signed by the sport in January 2020 for a fee of around £46 million, proved quality during his stint on the Portuguese side, earning 113 goals and assists in just 137 games on all sides.
While operating in a more advanced role than his international colleagues, Trincao, who has ten caps in his country, was able to follow in the footsteps of Fernandez, and has recently been fascinated in Lisbon.
The tricky left hooker boasts 61 goals and assists in 146 games on his current side. Returning to Old Trafford, Fernandez is the only one who has gained more targeted involvement (33) this season.
In fact, according to author Zach Roy, it was Amorim who reunited with him in sports in 2019, who “started Trinkao’s professional career in Braga.”
He previously found life in the Premier League with Wolves difficult, but after supporting by scoring only four times in his old gold 30 games, he could deserve another crack, especially under a familiar face like Amorim.
Celebrated by technical director Scott Sellers as “a truly exciting player” at Molinadeau, Trincao mirrors Fernandez with his creative skills, averaging 2.2 key passes per game in the league this season. Fernandez created 12 “big chances” while averaging 2.5 key passes per game on top flights in the UK for reference.
As the Red Devils skipper recently fell to a deep anchorage, his creative influence could be replicated by the former Barca man in either of two numbers of ten roles, helping to try to bring life to the club’s flounder line.
If Trincao could make a small part of its influence, I’ve seen the magic that Fernandez could recall in British football.
