Manchester United fell to the 15th Premier League defeat of the season earlier this afternoon, losing 1-0 to the Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
Pablo Saravia’s free kick secured all three points on Vitor Pereira’s side in just 10 to 10 minutes, solidifying Premier League status in another season.
With defeat, they achieved the highest defeat in a single league campaign since 1989/90, highlighting the work that Reuben Amorim has in his hands this summer.
The Europa League has undoubtedly been given all the attention, but after enduring the 2024/25 campaign, you need a win to look somewhat respectable.
Yesterday, many players could not deliver once more, putting their first role at risk ahead of a week-long European clash.
Wolves against poor performers in Man Utd
Midfielder Cobby Mineu was rewarded with his hero on Thursday night at the start of this afternoon, but he took advantage of the opportunity to make no use of his way.
The 20-year-old managed just 31 touches during his defeat, unable to complete any of the dribble he attempted, winning only 33% of the ground duel he entered.
After featured in the majority of his outings against Lyon, he wasn’t the only United star to fail to deliver, as fellow midfielder Manuel Ugarte appears tired.
The Uruguayans often looked futile when they got one tackle, lost 11 ownership and got the chance to find one of their teammates.
However, despite the show from the aforementioned duo, another Red Devils player failed to impress once again.
Players who need to do this summer
The challenges of rebuilding the summer became even more evident for Amorim after a victory in the Europa League a few days ago, and Amorim has returned to Earth even more.
To avoid repeated embarrassing defeats this afternoon, a big decision is needed across the pitch, and additional and sales are needed to return to its former glory.
One player desperately needs sales in the coming months is striker Rasmus Hoilund, who blew away any chance he had to impress under Amorim.
Dane cost the Red Devils an astounding £72 million in the summer of 2023, but ultimately failed to offer the campaign, scoring eight times on 45 outings in all competitions.
At one stage he went to 21 games without goals, but after Joshua Zilky’s season-ending hamstring injury he was blamed in the top end.
His lack of influence has become apparent today, registering a total of 14 touches on his 70-minute show, with journalist Alex Turk labeling him “embarrass.”
“(Manchester) United have essentially played with 10 men for the majority of the season, and I don’t want to hear the noise that Rasmus Hozilund isn’t getting a chance anymore.
“His movements are vicious. Alejandro Garnacho, that’s great. I can’t do anything more.”
Alex Turk from Rasmus Hojlund
Hojlund has completed only six passes and won a duel between the two, but it felt like he was a passenger during the meeting, unable to influence any kind, running alongside only ten men.
To close his tragic show, he was handed a rating of just 3/10 matches by the Turks, highlighting his lack of influence throughout the contest – which ultimately led to his withdrawal.

There cannot be denied that the amorim needs to strengthen the front during the summer. Hozilund is not just on the side of wanting a return to the top four.
They will lose a small fortune in their large investments, but a way to break up with him is their only option, generating funds that will greatly support the pursuit of a newer talisman than in 2025/26.
