Andrea Iannone still has a chance to compete in the WorldSBK in 2026, but the Italian has not yet signed anything for next year.
Iannone’s 2025 World Superbike season will be his last with the Go-Eleven team, which announced after the Estoril round that Lorenzo Baldassari, who last competed in World SBK with the GMT94 Yamaha team in 2023, will take over in 2026.
Iannone maintains his hopes of earning a spot on next year’s World SBK grid, but after an impressive rookie season that included a win in Aragon, followed by a lackluster season, the Italian is chasing something that will allow him to compete for a key position in order to ‘write history’.
“I’m ambitious about what I want, what’s good for me, because there’s no time to lose,” Andrea Iannone told WorldSBK.com ahead of the 2025 final race in Jerez.
“I’m not young and I’m not going to start now.
“Certainly, I need to embody my experience, my talent, everything. If I don’t get into this situation, there is no point in continuing, because to qualify for the Superbike World Championship (I don’t want to make up numbers) I want to write history.”
“This is what we are focused on and trying to achieve.”
Iannone added: “At the moment nothing is certain about next year, but in any case we think we have a chance and we are (evaluating) which is best for us.”
“I’m focused on doing well in this race (Spanish round), and I want to stop and think about this race, which is the last one.”
