The Los Angeles were desperate to find a reliable rescuer to close the game. Ahead of the 2025 season, the defending champions signed Tanner Scott on a four-year, $72 million deal, appearing to be approaching LA.

By the time October arrived, it was clear that Scott would not be the go-to for the ninth time.
The still need to intervene with other saviors like Scott and Alex Vescia and Blake Trainen in the NLDS, but it appears LA has found much needed sparks in their bullpen.
Sasaki roki somewhat disappointed the 2025 season. The right-hander started eight unstable starts with a right ERA before landing on the list injured in a right shoulder collision.
Sasaki didn’t look like the pitcher he was in NPB. His speed was dramatically reduced by his fastball, and he lacked the order that made him one of the best young arms in the sport.
Nonetheless, his time proved to be beneficial to the rookie. Sasaki has become a somewhat secret weapon for the bullpen.
“We talked about this. I don’t think our bullpen struggle is related to talent. It’s execution,” said Andrew Friedman, president of the baseball business. “We see it with the people walking, and it comes from confidence for me, so we have to find a way to make it a spark.
Dave Roberts agreed to Friedman.
“I think so. I think so,” Roberts said in response to Sasaki’s spark. “Everyone wants innings and opportunities, so I hope that’s something that will energize and motivate the guys in Penn. And hopefully, what Loki does will help guys chase the guys and motivate them to pitch well, and they’ll have those opportunities too.”
