Tottenham Hotspur received a 5-1 hammer at Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, confirming his opponent as Premier League champions in the match.
Despite Dominique Solanke’s opening goal in the first half, it was a one-sided contest for most of the evening.
Ange Postecoglou will certainly be disappointed with the players’ performance on the pitch, as some stars, including Destiny Udogie, are performing poorly.
Destiny Udogie’s struggle against Liverpool
Italian International was tasked with keeping Mohamed Sara quiet at left back and actually did a decent job in the opening 45 minutes.
Sarah took the first goal with a pass behind the Spurs defense, but Egypt International finished the first half with zero goals or assists.
Unfortunately, Liverpool No. 11 raised the game in the second half to create a “big chance” and scored a goal and cut Udogie’s inside from the right flank before putting his effort downstage.

Sarah also put pressure on the Spurs at left back and forced the defender to convert to his own net for the fifth goal.
But Udogie wasn’t Tottenham’s worst fullback in the afternoon.
Why should post-coglos drop Spence?
The English right back didn’t enjoy his best day in the Spurs shirt, but it started with his involvement in his first Liverpool goal, or his lack of it.
Spence tried to hesitate and push it up to play offside, but it wasn’t an organized line rather than following his man, Lewis Diaz. It was his matchup that scored the goal.
He ran his back twice in the second half, and one of them found he had no idea that Cody Gapppo was running backwards, but his cross evaded everyone, and the second allowed Dio Gojota to fire on the cross that forced Udogie’s own target.
Along these disappointing moments, defensively, Spence’s use of the ball was wasted compared to Udogie throughout the 90 minutes.

As you can see in the table above, the Italian defender performed better among the two defenders, including his own goals, which Spence was partially responsible.
The former Nottingham Forest fullback defended weak and persistent decisions in his physical battles, dumping the ball too often, losing 14 more people than Udogie. This allowed Liverpool to attack more opportunities as they were unable to hold the ball well.
Therefore, Postcoglu must consider mercilessly dropping Spence onto the bench in favor of Pedropolo, who previously provided assistance with Forest.
