The Los Angeles announced that left-handed pitcher Alex Bashear will be leaving the team due to “very personal family matters.”
“We regret that Alex Beshear is stepping away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, deal with very personal family matters,” the statement read. “The entire organization has communicated our thoughts to the Beshear family and will provide an update at a later date.”
Of course, the most important issue concerns Bashear and his family, but manager Dave Roberts spoke about the impact on L.A.’s World Series roster.

“I think right now we’re just trying to figure out the process, the rules, how to navigate the roster. I think there’s a little bit of time before we finalize the roster. But yeah, we’re going through the process of trying to backfill his spot on the roster.”
Roberts wasn’t sure whether Bashear would be able to play in the World Series in the future.
“I think we’re just taking it day by day without any expectations at all,” Roberts said.
Bashear played a key role in the back of the ‘ bullpen this postseason, appearing in seven games. After allowing two earned runs in Game 1 of the wild card, he has continued a six-game shutout streak.
