Newcastle United have spent a lot of passionate time in the transfer market this summer, missing out on many key goals, many have gone to other Premier League clubs.
Their latest transfer failure, Benjamin Sesco, was announced this weekend as Manchester United’s newest player. However, Eddie Howe has received several wins with Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale signings and appears to have another big signing aspirations with AC Milan defender Malick Chiau.
The most painful and missed transfers for Newcastle are Ekitique and Sesco as their main striker, Alexander Isaac, wants to move to Liverpool. The club is still hunting for a new striker to come in before Isaac becomes too much of a problem, or misses the massive cash injections that Liverpool offers.
Newcastle will turn to other targets after SAMU approaches
On his YouTube channel, Craig Hope of the Daily Mail provided some updates on the search for Newcastle strikers. Hope believes Newcastle is “planning the finality of what Alexander Isaac goes,” and he covers some updates on potential alternatives.
The Newcastle hunt for strikers recently led them to explore the ideas of young Porto striker “Sam” Omorodion Ageho. The 21-year-old, 21, registered a goal involvement in the 21 leagues last season, and Porto treasures him for “about £80 million,” says Hope.
Despite taking a recent approach, they are “not actively pursued” Sam, as Porto’s asking prices are considered too high for Newcastle.
Their current first choice target is instead Joan Wissa of Brentford. Hope also said that if Dango Watara moves from Bournemouth to Brentford, “Wissa will be in Newcastle,” he said, “has no doubt about that at all.”
However, if Wissa’s deal doesn’t come true, “Larsen, Jackson, Watkins, Muniz, or another name we’ve never heard of” will be the target of the next striker.
Lots of moving works for Newcastle
The hunt for Newcastle’s striker is not present in the vacuum and is clearly dependent on many other factors. The first factor is that there is not much pressure to sign a famous striker this summer, without the desire from both Liverpool and ISAK to unite the two parties. As Callum Wilson is on his way to a free transfer to West Ham, they probably had to take someone with him, but they weren’t necessarily the ones who could compete for Isak’s quality.
The second factor is how many members of the target club are in similar predicament. Brentford appears to be accepting at this point that Wissa might leave this summer. But like Newcastle, with Isaac, they want his exchanges to line up in advance, so they try not to expose themselves.
Newcastle faces the same challenges that Ollie Watkins pursues. Villa will want to bolster their attacks before letting go of the main striker, especially as the loan spells of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio were not permanent.
Unless these club issues are resolved, there is an increasing likelihood that striker Newcastle signs will become this “name we’ve never heard of.”
