Anthony Davis has little patience for people asking him about playing against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers sent Anthony Davis to the Mavericks for Luka Doncic earlier this year, completing what many consider to be the most shocking trade in NBA history.
The trade was obvious, but letting Anthony Davis go was a big move since the Lakers had the chance to acquire Luka Doncic, arguably one of the best players in the NBA.
Davis recently claimed to be unhappy with the Lakers, which suggests there was more going on behind the scenes between the two.
And now, as the Dallas Mavericks prepare to face the Lakers tomorrow night, Davis’ reaction to facing his former team is very telling.
Ahead of the preseason game between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas, Anthony Davis spoke to reporters about his mindset for the game.
When a reporter asked if he had any thoughts about playing against the Lakers given their history, Davis shut it down.
Reporter: “Even in the preseason, is it still a thing for you to play against the Lakers?
Anthony Davis: “No, it was last year.”
Davis appears to have moved on from the Lakers and hasn’t put much energy into his past with them.
Anthony Davis may not be too worried about playing for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, but there’s no denying there are some hard feelings there.
Davis arrived in Los Angeles in 2019 and made an immediate impact. His presence was crucial for the Lakers as they aim for the 2020 NBA Championship.
On top of that, he played a big role in the 2023 Western Conference Finals, along with LeBron James, who scouted him for the team.
Davis, now with the Mavericks, has a chance to make the Lakers regret the trade by winning an NBA championship before the Lakers do.
