Anthony Edwards has been great in his playmaking over the past two seasons. You’d think he cares about his assist count, but that’s not the case. He hopes the Timberwolves will score no matter what.
Anthony Edwards continues his climb as one of the NBA’s most dynamic offensive players. Everyone knew he was a high-level scorer, but he became a great playmaker. He constantly learns from his teammates and enemies and has dangerous matches.
The NBA relies on numbers, so people were hoping he would care about his assist in Game 3. That wasn’t because he would sacrifice his stats for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ victory. This happened in an impressive Game 3 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Despite the stereotypes surrounding the score-first shooting guard, Edwards has always been supportive. He is one of the league’s most selfless superstars, as he doesn’t hold the spotlight. Edwards also hopes to grow as a leader of the Timberwolves and that everyone shines.
Behind the scenes, Edwards is also hardworking. After Julius Randle inspired him, he leveled out his work. They became elite duo, especially when they looked great, this postseason run.
In Game 3, Edwards ran the show with points and playmaking. There was a play when he and Randle combined to establish their teammates. It was Edwards’ hockey assist, but he didn’t mind because he got a shot.
“At the end of the day, one of us who has a Timberwolves on her breast score doesn’t care what it is. I don’t care if I pass it. It really doesn’t matter,” Edwards said after Game 3.
You may remember the Timberwolves tripping and starting the season. Randle’s arrival abandoned the team as he was not in Karl Anthony’s town. As the season progressed, the Timberwolves realized they were still an incredible team with Randle as one of the stars.
Burly Power Forward has become the second choice behind Edwards. At the same time, he was also a major playmaker in Minnesota. He could be bullying the enemy on the post and he found his teammate to score a 3 on a kickout.
Director Chris Finch knew this was the right approach to the game. Relying on Edwards and Randle to acquire and generate plays was the best way to win. It paid off as they did it at a big stage in the NBA playoffs. They have the opportunity to lead the Warriors 2-1 and get a 3-1 lead in Game 4.
