Jay Williams told Ant-Man that he needs to add to his game to get closer to the level of MJ and Kobe next season.
Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive season. But like last season, they lost five games.
The Oklahoma City Thunder was a juggernaut all season. It’s almost shameful to lose to them. But Edwards has received a significant portion of criticism for Minnesota’s loss.
Draymond Green called out Ali and Chris Finch after an embarrassing Game 5 defeat. Edwards claims he has excellent results for the series, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
Edwards has been extremely skilled at reaching the rim ever since he entered the league. This season he developed a 3-pointer.
There are not many things that 23 years old can’t do. However, Jay Williams spoke about ESPN about adding to his game taking his game to the next level.
“If we keep those highlights in the sort box, we’re going to see something about the next iteration of the ant,” Williams said in his first take.
“In every play you see, it’s him at the top of the key, he’s trying to dance from the dribble, he’s trying to take the long three. His game requires you to go to the Kobe Bryant stage, Michael Jordan stage.
“If Anthony Edwards learns how to play with his back on the basket, the game ends with the rest of the league.”
In the modern NBA, a 3-pointer is essentially more valuable than any other shot. Ant-Man has averaged 10.3 attempts this season, earning four or more 3-pointers per game.
Considering the average 2-point field goal attempt, 10.1, Edwards shot more threes than the two this season.
His efficiency from within the arc was a hit. At 50%, that number is the lowest since the 23-year-old rookie season.
If Edwards can start paying the team even if he gets to the Cup or takes three times, it completely unlocks his offensive lock. He has the abilities and the wolf needs him to grow further as a player.
