Anthony Edwards has already established himself as the leader of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances, Anthony Edwards undoubtedly entered the NBA top 10 territory.
Edwards is growing rapidly, but at least he’s far from perfecting his flaws, which is what ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne believes.
During the 2024-25 NBA season, Edwards slowly developed his leadership skills. He also significantly improved his three-point shooting.
However, Ant’s achievements were often overshadowed by excessive attacks on hardwoods. Shelburne sees it as an “unnecessary distraction” for his teammates.
“Edwards led the league with 18 technical fouls last season and was fined more than $400,000 by the NBA for various actions.
She added:
“But it’s not a needless distraction for his team either to his reputation for the league’s referee.”
Don’t forget that Edwards is only 24 years old. He spent more time in the league, so he was able to improve his on-court behavior.

Edwards lost cool on the court, but he is still a phenomenal player as the Timberwolves superstar averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game last season.
Moreover, leading the Timberwolves to the conference finals is not a small feat in the crowded West.
Despite these achievements, ESPN ranked Edwards San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wenbanyama on the Top 10 NBA Players list of this season.
Wenbanyama has no attacks, but he has yet to prove himself in the postseason. Wenby may have greater advantages over ants, but now things are standing, so that’s a big rudeness for the T-wolf star.
For reference, Edwards won the sixth spot on the list, giving Wenbanyama the fifth spot.
