Chelsea reportedly approached the potential relocation of Aston Villa Striker Ollie Watkins, available for £60 million.
England International is a star performer at Villa, offering a total of 18 goals and 12 assists in all club and country competitions this season.
Still, Villa seems willing to listen to Watkins’ offer and Chelsea is ready to pay a £60 million asking price, according to the football relocation.
Although Watkins is not younger, he still shows his quality at the highest level, so this could be a wise investment by Chelsea, if not particularly long-term.
The Blues have problems ahead of time, and Watkins is ideal to remove pressure from Nicholas Jackson for a while.
Chelsea need to be flexible in their forwarding approach – Ollie Watkins’ moves may just need them
Chelsea have invested a lot in younger players under current ownership, which clearly represents a move since then.
Can fans and critics see this part of this Chelsea news happening realistically? Journalist Charlie Patrick can see the logic behind it, but he’s not sure the owner will change his approach.
I’ll talk Catch off sidehe said:
“Chelsea was able to do much worse than signing Watkins, a proven amount and goalsman in the Premier League. He will bring a lot of needed experience and become someone Nicholas Jackson can learn from.
“But at age 29, he doesn’t fit the recruiting model and he has no resale value.
Ollie Watkins missed out on Arsenal in January
Watkins is certainly enough to play for a club even bigger than Villa, and we know that Arsenal was keen on him in January.
According to Athletic, the gunners don’t seem to provide enough for the 29-year-old at the time.
These Chelsea links look incredible, but it will be interesting to keep an eye on both Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as other top clubs this summer when it comes to Watkins.
