After winning the Premier League title this season, Liverpool is focusing on the summer transfer business.
Manager Arne Slot has started working on identifying targets earlier this summer and bringing them to Anfield this summer.
With Trent Alexander Arnold leaving the club this summer, the Merseyside Club has identified Bayer Leberkusen’s Jeremy Fripon as the replacement for him at the club.
The attacking wingback is considered the ideal player to replace Alexander Arnold, who is ready to join Real Madrid this summer.
Apart from Frimon, the Premier League winner is keen to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerquez to add depth to his left-back position.
Arne Slot Wants to Wirtz in Liverpool
According to TBR Football, Liverpool bosses have identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wiltz as his best transfer target as the Liverpool boss is looking to add creativity to his team following the impending departure of Alexander Arnold.
The Dutch manager gave the club a green light to raise interest in Wirtz and bring creative German international midfielders to Anfield.
The main reason behind his interest in Wirtz is the departure of Alexander Arnold this summer.
The Reds will need to match Leverkusen’s hefty price tags for the attacking midfielder, and they will sign German players in the face of tough competition with Bayern Munich.
Journalist Graeme Bailey told TBR Football:
“Liverpool still thinks he’s going to Bayern. They know their interests and don’t want to see them wasted their time.
“But that, along with Wirtz, Arne Slot approved the deal, which is essentially due to Trent’s departure. They lost their creativity and were able to see it without him in the League Cup final.
“It really took home the fact that Liverpool could be very easy to lock down from time to time.
Slot wants more creativity with his team
Signing Wirtz this summer is a game-changing for the Reds and giving them an edge in the title race next season.
He is a player who can score goals, provide assists and considers that slots like to play football, and Wirtz can shine under Dutch managers.
Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen’s league championship manager, describes Wirtz as a “special player.”
